Bhadarva State

1600 CE – 1948 CE (approx.) · capital Bhadarva

A minor Rajput chiefship of the Rewa Kantha country in central Gujarat, near the Mahi river.

Origins

Bhadarva was one of the small estates of the Rewa Kantha region, held by a Rajput family from around 1600. Its founding is not well documented.

Rule and society

The ruler held a few villages and paid tribute to the Gaekwads of Baroda. In the British period it was grouped in the Rewa Kantha Agency. Little else is recorded in standard references.

Decline and legacy

Bhadarva was merged into Bombay Province in 1948 and became part of Gujarat in 1960, in present Vadodara district.

Few sources survive for this state; details are uncertain.
