Rajputs
The Rajputs are a group of warrior clans of northern and western India, many of whom ruled kingdoms in Rajasthan and neighbouring regions. They resisted the Delhi Sultanate and the early Mughal Empire, as at the Battle of Khanwa against Babur in 1527, but many later became Mughal allies. The Maratha Empire also imposed tribute arrangements on Rajput states.
