Udaipur
Udaipur is a city in southern Rajasthan, India, founded in 1559 by Maharana Udai Singh II as the new capital of Mewar. Built around Lake Pichola and other artificial lakes in the Aravalli hills, it was the seat of the Sisodia Maharanas until 1949, whose City Palace and lake palaces earned it the name 'city of lakes'. It is now a major centre of tourism.
