Abbeville
Abbeville is a town in the Somme department of northern France, on the River Somme. In the Middle Ages it was the capital of the County of Ponthieu and a prosperous cloth town, with the Gothic church of Saint-Vulfran. Prehistoric stone tools found nearby by Jacques Boucher de Perthes in the 19th century gave their name to the Abbevillian culture.
