Abu al-Hasan Ali ibn Othman was the Marinid sultan of Morocco from 1331 to 1348 and the dynasty's most ambitious ruler. He conquered Tlemcen in 1337 but was defeated by Castile and Portugal at the Battle of Río Salado in 1340.
