Admirable Congress

1830 · 19th century · Also known as Congreso Admirable

The Admirable Congress was the constituent congress of Gran Colombia that met in Bogotá from January to May 1830, presided over by Antonio José de Sucre. It drafted a new constitution and accepted the resignation of Simón Bolívar as president. Venezuela had already broken away, and Ecuador soon followed, so its constitution never governed the whole union.
