African Union Mission to Somalia
The African Union Mission to Somalia (AMISOM) was a peacekeeping force authorised by the African Union and the United Nations in 2007 to support Somalia's transitional government. Made up mainly of troops from Uganda, Burundi, Kenya, Ethiopia and Djibouti, it drove al-Shabaab out of Mogadishu in 2011 and from other towns in the following years. It was replaced in 2022 by the African Union Transition Mission in Somalia.
