Aihole
Aihole is a village in Bagalkot district of Karnataka, India, with more than a hundred temples built from the 5th to the 12th century, many under the Chalukyas of Badami. Its Meguti temple bears the Aihole inscription of 634, composed by the poet Ravikirti in praise of Pulakeshin II. The town's merchants gave their name to the Ayyavole guild, one of the great trading associations of medieval southern India.
