Al-Salt ibn Malik
Al-Salt ibn Malik was Ibadi imam of Oman from 851 to 886, one of the longest-reigning rulers of the first imamate. His rule saw Oman prosper from Gulf trade through Sohar and from farming watered by falaj channels, and he sent a fleet to defend Socotra. His deposition in 886 divided Omani scholars into rival schools and led to civil war and Abbasid intervention.
