Al-Julanda ibn Mas'ud
Al-Julanda ibn Mas'ud was the first Ibadi imam of Oman, elected around 750 by the Ibadi scholars and leaders after the fall of the Umayyad Caliphate. His imamate was short: in 752 an army sent by the new Abbasid Caliphate defeated and killed him, ending the first Ibadi state in Oman. Ibadi tradition remembers him as a model of the just imam who died in defence of the community.
