Oman
Oman is a country on the south-eastern coast of the Arabian Peninsula, commanding the approaches to the Persian Gulf. In antiquity it was known as Magan, a source of copper traded with Mesopotamia in the age of the Akkadian Empire. In the eighteenth century parts of it, including Muscat, were briefly held by the Afsharid Empire under Nader Shah.
