Alexander's siege of Gaza
Alexander's siege of Gaza was a siege by the army of Alexander the Great in 332 BCE, following the capture of Tyre, as he advanced towards Egypt. The city's Persian garrison resisted for some months before it was taken by storm. Its fall opened the way to Egypt for the Macedonian Empire.
