Alonso Dávila
Alonso Dávila, or Alonso de Ávila, was a Spanish conquistador who served under Hernán Cortés in the conquest of Mexico and then under Francisco de Montejo in the conquest of Yucatán. In 1531 he led an expedition into the Maya province of Chetumal and founded a settlement called Villa Real, but Maya resistance forced him to abandon it and retreat south to Honduras.
