Ávila
Ávila is a city in Castile and León, Spain, standing at more than 1,100 metres on the northern Meseta west of Madrid. In the Iron Age its district belonged to the Vettones, whose granite boar sculptures (verracos) survive there. Its medieval walls, built mainly in the 12th century, are among the best preserved in Europe, and it was the birthplace of Saint Teresa of Ávila.
