Alsace-Lorraine

Alsace-Lorraine was the territory annexed by the German Empire from France after the Franco-Prussian War in 1871. It was administered as an imperial territory and became a lasting source of French resentment. France recovered it after Germany's defeat in the First World War in 1918.
