Alutiiq

Also known as Sugpiaq

The Alutiiq, or Sugpiaq, are an Indigenous people of south-central Alaska, living on Kodiak Island, the Alaska Peninsula and the coasts of Prince William Sound. In 1784 Grigory Shelikhov's men massacred many of them at Refuge Rock, and under the Russian-American Company they were forced to hunt sea otters.
