Ananuri

Ananuri is a castle complex on the Aragvi river in Georgia, about 70 kilometres north of Tbilisi on the Georgian Military Road. It was the seat of the dukes of Aragvi, and its walls enclose two churches, the larger of which, the Church of the Mother of God, was built in 1689. In 1739 it was stormed by the rival dukes of Ksani.
