Person
Anthony Eden
Anthony Eden was a British politician who served as Foreign Secretary and then as Prime Minister from 1955 to 1957. In 1956 he ordered military intervention in Egypt with France and Israel after Egypt nationalised the Suez Canal. The Suez Crisis ended in humiliating withdrawal under American pressure and is seen as a symbol of the British Empire's decline.
