Antônio de Sousa Neto

1803–1866 · 19th century

Antônio de Sousa Neto was a gaúcho general of the Ragamuffin War in southern Brazil. After his victory at Seival on 10 September 1836 he proclaimed the Riograndense Republic the next day. He later fought for Brazil in the Paraguayan War and died of wounds in 1866.
