Apuan Alps

The Apuan Alps are a mountain range in north-western Tuscany, Italy, running parallel to the coast between the valleys of the Serchio and the Magra. Their marble, quarried around Carrara since Roman times, includes the white statuary marble used by Michelangelo and many other sculptors.
