Arachthos
The Arachthos is a river of Epirus in north-western Greece, flowing from the Pindus mountains south past Arta into the Ambracian Gulf. Ancient Ambracia, founded by Corinthian colonists around 625 BCE, stood on its banks. The old stone bridge of Arta, rebuilt in its present form in the early 17th century, crosses it and is famous from Greek folk song.
