Pindus
The Pindus is the main mountain range of mainland Greece, running southwards from the Albanian border between Epirus and Thessaly. Its highest peak, Smolikas, rises to 2,637 metres. In antiquity its valleys were home to peoples such as the Athamanians and Dolopians, and the range has long formed a barrier between western and eastern Greece.
