Arau

Arau is the royal town of Perlis, the smallest state of Malaysia, near the Thai border. It is the seat of the state's raja, with the Istana Arau palace and the royal mosque, while the state capital is Kangar nearby. The town grew as the residence of the Jamalullail rulers after Perlis was separated from Kedah in the 19th century.
