Ardagh, County Longford
Ardagh is a village in County Longford, Ireland, whose church is traditionally said to have been founded by Saint Mel, a disciple of Saint Patrick, in the 5th century. It became the seat of the medieval diocese of Ardagh, and the ruins of a small early stone church survive there. The Catholic diocese of Ardagh and Clonmacnoise still bears its name.
