Arezzo
Arezzo is a city in eastern Tuscany, Italy, standing on a hill above the upper valleys of the Arno and Tiber. An important Etruscan centre and later a Roman town known for its red-glazed pottery, it was a Ghibelline rival of Florence in the Middle Ages until its defeat at Campaldino in 1289, and it passed under Florentine rule in 1384. Petrarch was born there.
