Florence
Florence is a city in Tuscany, central Italy, and a leading centre of the Renaissance. Byzantine émigré scholars contributed greatly to the revival of Greek learning there, and the Council of Florence (1438–1445) sought to reunite the Byzantine and Latin churches in the last years of the Byzantine Empire.
