Arhuaco people

The Arhuaco are an Indigenous people of the southern slopes of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta in northern Colombia, speaking a Chibchan language. Regarded as heirs of the Tairona, they keep a traditional spiritual leadership of mamos, who teach that the Sierra is the heart of the world. Their main ceremonial town is Nabusímake, and they have long resisted outside settlement and missionary control.
