Kogi people

The Kogi are an Indigenous people of the northern Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta in Colombia, speaking a Chibchan language and widely regarded as heirs of the Tairona. Led by spiritual authorities called mamos, they see themselves as guardians of the balance of the world. Their traditional life and warnings about environmental destruction became widely known through the 1990 BBC documentary From the Heart of the World.
