Person
Arwald
Arwald was the last king of the Isle of Wight and the last pagan king in Anglo-Saxon England. In 686 Caedwalla of Wessex conquered the island and killed him, and, as Bede records, his two young brothers were baptised and then executed. The conquest ended the island's independence and brought it into Wessex.
