Asaf Jahi dynasty

1724–1948 · 18th century · Also known as Asaf Jahis

The Asaf Jahi dynasty ruled Hyderabad State in the Deccan from 1724 to 1948 under the title of Nizam. It was founded by the Mughal noble Mir Qamar-ud-din Khan, Asaf Jah I, and its seven rulers became the foremost princes of British India after accepting a subsidiary alliance in 1798. The dynasty's rule ended when India annexed Hyderabad in 1948.
