Ashikaga Takamoto

1485–1535 · 16th century

Ashikaga Takamoto was the third Koga kubo, the head of the eastern branch of the Ashikaga at Koga in the Kantō region of Japan. He fought his father Masauji for control of the line before succeeding him around 1512. His rule was weakened by his brother Yoshiaki, who claimed the title of Oyumi kubo, and by the growing power of the Later Hōjō of Odawara.
