Kamakura
Kamakura is a coastal city south of Tokyo in Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan. Minamoto no Yoritomo made it the seat of his warrior government in the 1180s, and it remained the capital of the Kamakura shogunate until 1333, when Nitta Yoshisada stormed it. It then became the seat of the Ashikaga governors of the Kanto. Its Great Buddha and Zen temples are famous.
