Autonomist Party (Fiume)

1896 · 19th century

The Autonomist Party was a political party of Fiume, now Rijeka, founded in 1896, which defended the city's self-government against Hungarian centralism and later against annexation by Italy or Yugoslavia. Led after 1918 by Riccardo Zanella, it won the elections of April 1921 in the Free State of Fiume, but its government was overthrown by Fascists in March 1922.
