Ayawaso
Ayawaso was the inland capital of the Ga kingdom on the Accra plains of present-day Ghana. Europeans called it Great Accra to distinguish it from the coastal town of Small Accra, where they traded with the Ga. The rising Akwamu state sacked it in 1677, and the Ga leadership moved to the coast, where Accra became their centre.
