James Fort

1673 · 17th century

James Fort is a fort on the coast of Accra, Ghana, built by the English Royal African Company in 1673 on the site of an earlier trading lodge. It stood near the Dutch Fort Crèvecoeur and the Danish Christiansborg, the three posts competing for the trade of the Ga kingdom, including the slave trade. It later served as a prison and is part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
