Ayodhya
Ayodhya is a city on the Sarayu River in Uttar Pradesh, India, revered by Hindus as the birthplace and capital of Rama in the Ramayana. Associated with the ancient kingdom of Kosala and the nearby city of Saketa, it is also sacred to Jains as the birthplace of several tirthankaras. A long dispute over the Babri Mosque, demolished in 1992, ended with a Supreme Court ruling in 2019, and a Ram temple opened there in 2024.
