Báetán mac Cairill
Báetán mac Cairill was a king of the Dál Fiatach and over-king of the Ulaid in north-eastern Ireland who died in 581. Later Irish tradition presents him as one of the most powerful kings of his age, claiming authority over the Isle of Man and parts of Scotland. His reign marked the height of Ulaid ambitions before their defeat at Mag Rath in 637.
