Bahawal Khan I
Bahawal Khan I was a nawab of the Abbasi Daudpota family, which claimed descent from the Abbasid caliphs and had moved from Sindh to the Sutlej valley earlier in the 18th century. Around 1748 he founded the town of Bahawalpur, which took his name and became the capital of the princely state of Bahawalpur, ruled by his descendants until it merged into West Pakistan in 1955.
