Bangsamoro, officially the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, is an autonomous region of the southern Philippines created in 2019. It replaced the earlier Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao after the peace agreement between the government and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front and the Bangsamoro Organic Law of 2018. The name, meaning 'Moro nation', also stands for the shared identity of the Muslim peoples of Mindanao and the Sulu archipelago.
