Bangor-on-Dee
Bangor-on-Dee (Bangor-is-y-coed) is a village on the River Dee in Wrexham county borough, north-east Wales. In the early Middle Ages it was the site of a large British monastery. Bede records that its monks attended a meeting with Augustine of Canterbury around 602, and that about 1,200 of them were killed by Æthelfrith of Northumbria at the Battle of Chester around 615.
