Barentu Oromo
The Barentu Oromo are one of the two main branches of the Oromo people of Ethiopia. During the great Oromo migrations of the sixteenth century they moved into the lowlands and plateau around Harar. Their pressure on the Muslim territories contributed to the decline of the Adal Sultanate after the death of Imam Ahmad.
