Barmstedt
Barmstedt is a small town in the Pinneberg district of Schleswig-Holstein, north-west of Hamburg. In 1649 Christian Rantzau bought the district from the Duke of Holstein-Gottorp, and in 1650 it became the imperial County of Rantzau, governed from a castle on an island in the Rantzau lake. After the county was seized in 1726 it came under Danish administration.
