Battle of Bhuchar Mori

1591 · 16th century

The Battle of Bhuchar Mori was fought in 1591 near Dhrol in Saurashtra, Gujarat, between a Mughal army under Mirza Aziz Koka and the Kathiawar chiefs led by the Jam of Nawanagar, who had sheltered the fugitive Sultan Muzaffar Shah III of Gujarat. The Mughals won after heavy losses on both sides. Nawanagar then submitted to Mughal authority, and the battle is remembered as one of the largest fought in Saurashtra.
