Battle of Chenggao

204–203 BCE · 3rd century BCE · Part of the Chu–Han Contention

The Battle of Chenggao was a prolonged struggle in 204–203 BCE between Liu Bang of Han and Xiang Yu of Chu for the strategic town of Chenggao, near the Ao granary in modern Henan, China. While Xiang Yu was away, the Han forces lured the Chu commander Cao Jiu across the Si River and destroyed his army, after which Cao Jiu, Sima Xin and Dong Yi killed themselves.
