The Battle of Chi Lăng–Xương Giang was fought in late 1427 when the forces of Lê Lợi ambushed a Ming relief army marching south from China through the Chi Lăng pass, killing its commander Liu Sheng and then destroying the remaining troops at Xương Giang.
