1060s · 11th century · Part of the Chola–Chalukya wars

The Battle of Kudalasangamam was fought in the 1060s near the confluence of the Krishna and Tungabhadra rivers between the Chola king Virarajendra and the Western Chalukya king Someshvara I. Virarajendra won a decisive victory, which he celebrated in his inscriptions. Soon afterwards, in 1068, the ailing Someshvara I drowned himself in the Tungabhadra.
