Battle of Leucimme

435 BCE · 5th century BCE · Also known as Battle of Leukimme

The Battle of Leucimme was a naval battle fought in 435 BCE off the promontory of Leucimme on Corfu, in which the fleet of Corcyra defeated a Corinthian fleet. The two cities were quarrelling over their joint colony of Epidamnus. Corinth's preparations for revenge led Corcyra to seek an alliance with Athens, one of the disputes that led to the Peloponnesian War.
