Battle of Lipany

1434 · 15th century · Part of the Hussite Wars

The Battle of Lipany was fought east of Prague on 30 May 1434 near the end of the Hussite Wars. An alliance of moderate Utraquists and Catholics defeated the radical Taborite and Orphan field armies, and their leader Prokop the Great was killed. The battle ended radical Hussite power and opened the way to the Compacts of Basel and the recognition of Sigismund as king of Bohemia.
