Battle of Myonessus

190 BCE · 2nd century BCE · Part of the Roman–Seleucid War

The Battle of Myonessus was a naval battle fought off the coast of Ionia in 190 BCE, in which a Roman and Rhodian fleet under Lucius Aemilius Regillus defeated the Seleucid fleet commanded by Polyxenidas. The victory gave the Romans control of the Aegean and allowed their army to cross into Asia Minor, where it defeated Antiochus III at Magnesia.
