Battle of Pallene

c. 546 BCE · 6th century BCE

The Battle of Pallene was fought in Attica around 546 BCE, when Peisistratus, returning from exile with mercenaries and allies, surprised and routed the Athenian forces near the sanctuary of Athena at Pallene. The victory gave him his third and lasting tyranny over Athens, which he passed on to his sons Hippias and Hipparchus.
